OUR STORY:

Founded in 1931 by David Lawrence Young and Alberta "Bertie" Lown, the Eagleville Pool Hall served as a 55 year community hub, functioning as a saloon, barbershop, and social gathering place in the Wild West. Under Bertie's tough, seven-day-a-week leadership, the establishment welcomed locals for stories by the woodstove, offering a vital, authentic sanctuary during and after the Great Depression. Following decades of service by Bertie and her husband, the legacy continues, with the space evolving into the new and rebuilt Eagleville Saloon.

THE BUILDING:

While designing the new building, a sense of age was a must-have as part of the plan. While searching Craigslist, an 8,000 square foot 3-story barn built in 1876 popped up for sale outside of Peoria Illinois. Tom made the mistake of flying out for a look, and once inside he couldn’t say no.

The beautiful beams and siding are a centerpiece of the saloon and give the building a sense of age, history, and warmth. The story of the barn is on our history wall in the hotel reception.
